Music

Anglo-Chinese  School  (Independent)  is  a  Music  Elective  Programme  centre  and  has  a   thriving   arts  culture  where  students  enjoy  a  music-enriched  learning  environment.

The  department  runs  four  core  programmes:

1. Music  Elective  Programme  (Year  1-4  Express  &  IP,  GCE  ‘O’  Level  Music  with  Higher  Music)

2. International  Baccalaureate  Diploma  Programme  Higher  Level  (HL)  Music  (Year 5-6)

3. General  Music  Programme  (Year 1-2,  compulsory  curriculum  component)

4. Music  Elective  Programme  Centre  (for  external  Sec  1-4  students.  Entry  into  this  programme  is  strictly  in  Sec  1  only)

The  MEP  provides  students  with  the  opportunity  to  engage  in  the  world  of  music  as  lifelong  participants.  The  school  holds  an  annual  concert  ‘ACSpressivo’  where  MEP  students  from  both  the  ‘O’  Level  Music  and  International  Baccalaureate  programme  put  up  solo  and  ensemble  performances.

In  addition,  students  benefit  from  learning  about  music  in  a  stimulating  and  engaging  manner  through  a  range  of  activities.   Students  are  able  to  hone  their  performance  and  composition  skills  during  masterclasses  with  internationally  renowned  musicians  and  composers.   Different  forms  of  ethnic  music  are  introduced  to  students  via  workshops  conducted  by  music  practitioners.
